Each of the transportation planning documents produced by the MPO relies on important data regarding transportation infrastructure, land use cover, demographics, and much more. These data help us understand the existing conditions of our transportation network, identify trends, prioritize projects, and make projections. These data are collected both manually by staff and volunteers and mechanically utilizing data collection technologies. The MPO has created numerous interactive web maps so that interested individuals can explore some of the data utilized in our plans. These maps can be a useful tool for those trying to understand and make changes in their neighborhood. Click this link to access the web maps.
In addition to preparing planning documents, MPO staff also produces local transportation studies, conducts research on varied transportation issues, and compiles reports on transportation activity and behavior in the Missoula Area. These reports and studies often provide important information that contribute to future plans and plan updates. Follow this link to access the reports and studies.
The Missoula MPO is in continuous coordination with numerous agencies such as the City of Missoula, Missoula County, the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), Missoula Urban Transportation District (Mountain Line), and the Missoula Downtown Association (MDA). Coordination with these agencies helps to ensure that our community goals and visions align within each one of our plans and that our investments help us reach those local and regional goals. To make this happen the MPO relies on the plans, tools, and additional resources produced by these other agencies. Some of the key documents can be accessed by following the links below.
